Pork Chops with Apple Sauce and Green Beans

Pan Fried Pork Chops with Apples & Onions

  • 4 pork chops – bone in or out – your choice
  • 2 Granny Smith Apples, cored and sliced into wedges
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 3 Tablespoons seasoning blend
  • 2 Tablespoons olive oil – divided (use as needed)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons whole butter

Instructions:

Sprinkle chops with salt & pepper and seasoning blend.

Toss apples and onions together in a bowl, sprinkle with seasoning blend

Heat oil in skillet, sauté apples and onions in oil, season with salt and pepper. Cook for 3 minutes or until crisp-tender. Remove from pan – set aside.

Heat oil to cover the bottom of the pan in the same skillet. Add chops to the pan – cook until golden brown, flip and finish cooking over medium heat. Internal temperature needs to read 145 degrees F.

Once chops are finished cooking, plate them. Deglaze pan with chicken stock or water. Bring to a rapid boil. Reduce heat, add apples, onions and 2 Tablespoons of butter; swirl until butter melts.

Spoon apples and onions over chops,

Serve with Potato Pancakes, Green Beans with Almonds, apple sauce and sour cream.

 

Apple Sauce

2 apples, peeled, cored and chopped

Put the apples into a small saucepan.

Add enough water to cover just the chopped apples in the pot

Add a pinch of salt

Bring to a boil. Simmer until the apples are soft and tender.

Blend the apples with an immersion blender or in a blender until smooth.

Or smash the soft apples with the back of a spoon until desired consistency.

 

Serve warm or cold
